Which Lexus models were favored among Americans this past month?

Five Lexus models were among the 30 top selling luxury vehicles in America for the month of April. One Lexus model, the Lexus RX, even earned a spot in the top five, coming in at number two. The Lexus RX sold 6842 units in April and 24,729 this year overall. Other best-sellers from Lexus for April include: the Lexus ES 350, the Lexus IS, the Lexus GS, and the Lexus CT 200h.

The ES 35o sold 3000 units in April 2012 and 11,548 this year. The IS boasts reported sales at 2344 units for April and 8,966 for the year. The GS is holding its own, selling 7054 units so far this year, 2006 of which were sold in April.

Last but not least, the CT 200h has earned a top honor of its own. This environmentally-friendly hatchback has seen an 85.1% increase in sales, the largest among any of the top 30 selling luxury vehicles. The CT 200h has already sold 6510 models this year and expects sales to continue to grow.

Our posts usually entail details of the latest Toyota models available at Woodfield Lexus, serving Chicago Lexus CT drivers. But cars and SUVs are not the only products of Toyota. The automaker is constantly seeking out opportunities to develop the community. Their latest initiative? Battling against America’s high school dropout crisis to produce more successfully students. 

On April 5, 2012, Toyota announced a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) through the establishment of a college ready initiative. Working as a team, these two organizations plan to help fund youth education and improve high school graduation rates.

As a sponsor of Diplomas to Degrees, Toyota will be providing a $1.5 million grant to Boys and Girls Club teens. Over a three-year period, the grant will provide tools and resources to support these teens as they move from high school to college graduation. Toyota hopes the initiative will eventually create jobs, strengthening the economy.

Diplomas to Degrees will be available in more than 1,000 Boys and Girls Clubs across the country. The program is designed to help with goal development, the pursuit of financial assistance, and the formation of relationships with mentors offering advice through the teen’s educational experience. The program also allows teens the opportunity to explore post-secondary institutions to become more familiar with the college lifestyle.

In addition to Diplomas to Degrees, Toyota has provided close to $1 million in academic scholarships for more than 225 Boys and Girls Club alumni and staff.

Woodfield Lexus, serving Roselle Lexus drivers, is pleased to announce that pricing has been determined for the automakers’ latest luxury vehicles. New models include the 2012 IS, the 2013 GS, and multiple variations of the 2013 RX. While only the 2012 IS is currently available at our dealership, Roselle Lexus buyers can get a head start on researching pricing for when the other models arrive, later this year.

With a variety of pricing options, there is likely to be a new Lexus model for every budget.

2012 Lexus IS: Beginning this May, the 2012 IS will adopt the new MSRP of $33,795. This pricing is available to drivers for the MT model, which includes a variety of standard safety and technology features, as well as the IS’ sporty interior and exterior design.

2013 Lexus GS 450h: Arriving to dealerships this May, the 2013 GS 450h will join the GS 350 and GS 350 F SPORT, completing the GS family. This powerful, hybrid sedan will have a base MSRP of $58,950, which is unchanged from the model it will replace. With a best-in-class fuel economy, the GS 450h is certified as a Super-Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (SULEV). EPA estimated ratings are of 29 MPG for city driving and 34 MPG for highway driving. A V-6 engine powers the 2013 GS 450h; however, don’t be fooled. The vehicle has a total system power output of 338 horsepower.

2013 Lexus RX: Offering a variety of models, it is no surprise that the 2013 Lexus RX has been the top-selling luxury utility vehicle in America for the past 14 years. Three versions, the RX 350, the RX 450h, and the RX 350 F SPORT make up the 2013 RX family. The 2013 RX 350 and 450h are expected to arrive at dealerships beginning in April. They hold base MSRPs of $39,310 and $45,910 respectively. The 2013 RX 350 F SPORT will arrive in July and have a base MSRP of $47,000.

Most impressive was the luxury sedan’s performance in the roof strength test, which was conducted by a hydraulic arm mashing in the roof of the vehicle in order to calculate force to vehicle weight ratio. The 2013 Lexus GS received a score of 4.88, significantly higher than the IIHS’ required ranking of 4.0.

The 2013 Lexus GS is filled with state of the art standard safety features including vehicle stability control, 10 airbags, anti-lock breaks, daytime running lights, and electronic-brake force distribution. The list does not end there, this luxury sedan was designed with safety in mind.

Power and Associates. They were also recognized by Kelley Blue Book as number eight in terms of brand loyalty. Well, they have done it again.  Lexus has earned the top ranking among luxury brands in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, indicating highest overall customer satisfaction. Lexus’ overall CSI score was 861 (on a 1,000 point scale), which was 15 points among the segment average. Additionally, the score was the highest overall, regardless of segment.

This is Lexus fourth consecutive year earning the top ranking, and well as fifteenth year ever, more than any other manufacturer. Lexus has held the highest ranking during the following years: 1991-1995, 1997-2001, 2006, and 2009-2012.

Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager attributes a part of this success to Lexus dealers, stating they “continue to raise the bar in delivering on the promise of industry-leading customer satisfaction”.

J.D. Power and Associates 2012 CSI Study is based on the responses of vehicles from the 2007-2011 model years. The study was fielded from October through December 2011.

While we are sure that information was informative to most readers, we suspect others were left wondering what is to be expected from Lexus’ other, larger SUV, the Lexus LX. Sticking with the old adage of, “if its not broke, don’t fix it,” Lexus carried over many successful features from the 2012 model. Most notably is the 5.7L, DOHC V8, allowing for 383 hp and 403 lb-ft of torque. In addition to its powerful engine, drivers can expect many features that will make the 2013 LX a front runner in the luxury SUV category.

Drivers can expect unlimited seating options, including three rows, allowing the ability to seat eight passengers comfortably. The driver and front passenger can expect heated and ventilated power seats. While second and third row seats provide efficient folding options.

Auto enthusiasts, including the employees at your favorite Lexus dealer, Woodfield Lexus, are eagerly awaiting the start of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The international auto show will take place between March 8-18 and will feature first looks of many new, 2013 models. One model we are particularly looking forward to seeing is the 2013 Lexus RX450h. This luxury, hybrid SUV is sure to be a favorite among Motor Show patrons.

For 2013, the RX450h will be available in “Sport” mode, in addition to its three current drive models: Normal, Eco, and EV. Sport mode is said to provide less-intrusive operation of the SUV’s stability- and traction-control systems. It also has the ability to modify the throttle and electric-power-steering settings for a faster response. Changes to the illumination of the SUV’s instrument panel will also be present in the 2013 Lexus RX450h Sport mode.

The RX450h is not the only Lexus model debuting changes at the Geneva Motor Show. All three RX models (RX350, RX450h, and RX350F Sport) will be undergoing cosmetic updates and technology refinements for 2o13. Some changes include new headlight clusters, 19-inch wheel design, and modified remote-touch interface to increase user friendliness. Additionally the RX models will be available to drivers in four new exterior colors; Platinum Silver, Garnet Red, Fire Agate, and Lapis Lazuli.

The 2012 Lexus Eco Challenge has announced its second round winners. Sixteen student teams from eleven states have made the cut. Winning teams represent a variety of states from New York to Florida, making their local Lexus dealers proud. Included in the group of winners is “Mother Nature’s Minions,” a team from Bartlett High School. Woodfield Lexus extends their congratulations to this local team.

All of the second round winners, including “Mother Nature’s Minions,” have earned $10,000 in scholarships and grants to be divided among students, teacher, and school. In addition, these sixteen teams will compete in the Final Challenge for one of two $30,000 grand prizes and eight $15,000 first-place awards.

For each challenge, teams are required to define an environmental issue of importance, develop an action plan addressing this issue, implement the plan, and report the results. For example, “Mother Nature’s Minions” implemented a TerraCycle program at schools to address fossil fuel usage to complete the second round of the competition.

In its fifth year, the annual Lexus Eco Challenge educates students about the environment through a friendly competition. Lexus pairs up with Scholastic to challenge students to learn about their environment and think of ways to improve it.

Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager, believes the competition allows students “the opportunity to show their capabilities to others, as well as discover their own potential to improve the environment around them.”

This was no easy feat considering the auto industry has reached all time highs in the area of vehicle dependability.

J.D. Power polled 31,000 owners of 2009 model-year vehicles to obtain information. Rankings were determined by problems experienced by drivers over the last 12 months. Problems such as peeling paint, noisy breaks, and faulty transmission were few among Lexus drivers, earning the automaker the number one spot on the list.

The industry average was determined to be around 132 reported problems per 100 vehicles. Cars purchased through a Lexus dealer, were determined as having a significantly lower amount of reported problems. Also revealing a low amount of problems and earning a spot in the top five was Toyota, Lexus’ sister brand.
