Lexus RX 350 receives the top safety pick award by IIHS

My journey started months ago when I decided to venture out and take on soul responsibility of finding my family the perfect car. It was all new to me because my husband always took on this task for us, but it was my turn and I was ready. Of course being the mother of young children it had to be the safest car out there. But, being a fairly young mom I still wanted it to be stylish; I’m not ready for the minivan yet. When I think of style, luxury and class Lexus is the first thing that popped into my mind. Well, apparently I wasn’t alone. Lexus has a ton of awards under their belt for just about every car in their line up. To add to that, the Lexus RX 350 recently received the Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.  The IIHS is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the losses brought about by vehicular accidents. So as you can imagine, it is a huge honor to win this prestigious award.

For Chicago Lexus RX drivers, some of the biggest factors families look for when purchasing a new car are the safety features, and the Lexus RX 350 has it all! On top of having your standard airbags, the Chicago Lexus RX also features what’s called a rollover sensor.  The rollover sensor is designed to deploy the side curtain airbags in the event of an impending rollover. In addition to the rollover sensor, the Lexus RX 350 has 10 other airbags: driver and front passenger airbags, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, front and rear side airbags with curtain shields. That’s about as safe as driving around in a padded room! Other safety features include traction control, an adaptive front-lighting system, and a back-up camera embedded in the rear-view mirror.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know exactly what I was getting myself into when I started searching for a safe, reliable car for my family and I. I must admit though, I do like to have nice things and what’s nicer than a Lexus? So, when I told my husband I wanted a Lexus RX 350 he was hesitant at first, but all I had to do was mention the safety features- and, of course, the latest cutting edge technology- and he was sold! So the next step was visiting one of my local Chicago used Lexus GS dealers. It took me no time at all to find the perfect car for my family- and my husband couldn’t be happier with my decision.
