These tests include high-speed front, side and rear impact tests that test the protection against neck injuries that the seat and head restraints provide. The last test is the roof strength test, which measures how well the car will hold up in a rollover crash. The Top Safety Pick award is then given to the vehicle that gets the highest possible rating, which is “good” in these four tests.
It’s no surprise that the Chicago Lexus RX 350 was chosen as the Top Safety Pick it has many different safety features. These features include, Vehicle Stability Control, traction control, an adaptive front-lightening system, and a back-up camera embedded in the rear-view mirror. Also, the RX 350 has 10 airbags, driver and front passenger airbags, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, front and rear side airbags with curtain shields.
